Reinforcement Crew

The RC-AAM Reinforcement Crew is an annual event that offers expertise, people-power and support to museums and organizations that need assistance with collections-based projects, and coincides with the AAM Annual Meeting.

The Reinforcement Crew began in 2007 as a way for its members to give back to the museum community. The group gathers the day before the AAM annual meeting to volunteer their time and expertise to assist smaller museums with collections-based projects. Prior to the event, representatives select and work with museums to identify projects and secure donated archival supplies. On the day of the event, Crew members work side by side with museum staff on the projects.

Since 2008, Reinforcement Crew events have served 28 museums in Denver, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Houston, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Seattle and Atlanta. Over 150 volunteer registrars have given their time to this program.

2016

Reinforcement Crew 2016 will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. We will begin soliciting for host sites in the Washington DC area in early September. If you are a site which would like to be considered for volunteer help, please contact us at the emails below.

Once we have the host sites selected we will send out an email asking for volunteers. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Reinforcement Crew and the space and personnel confines of our partner sites, we do have to limit the size of our volunteer contingent so please remember to register early. Your enthusiasm and generosity are always appreciated and noticed!

If you have any questions about the 2016 Reinforcement Crew, please contact Libby Krecek, Registrar, Douglas County Historical Society at or Nicole Paterson, Registrar, James E. Lewis Museum of Art.

And as always, a huge thank you goes out to our volunteers, and our event sponsors.
