What the RC-AAM stood for when our Mission Statement was created still holds true today. The RC-AAM is one of the largest and most active of the Professional Network Committees (formerly Standing Professional Committees) of the AAM. This has only come to be because of the hard work of dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our devoted sponsors over these past several decades.
We have grown into a committee that disseminates information on local, state, regional, national, and international levels through publications, electronic media such as our website and listserv, and our participation in conference sessions, workshops and other activities.
The RC-AAM was founded in 1977. Since then, we have come a long way, faced many challenges and undergone many changes. What’s in store for the collections care community over the coming years? That will depend on involvement of the community’s members. My hope is that collections care professionals will continue to develop and promote high standards and best practices; encourage and increase professionalism; and always maintain communication with colleagues in our field.
With respect,
Darlene Bialowski
Chair, RC-AAM (2010-2012)
